Nach Stationen an der Medizinischen Universität Wien, dem Inselspital Bern und der Hirslanden Klinik im Park in Zürich leitete Lindner ab 2019 die fusionierte Klinik für Allgemeine Innere und Notfallmedizin am Bürgerspital Solothurn und war dort Mitglied der Spitalleitung.
Seit 2023 ist er Klinikvorstand der Klinik für Notfallmedizin am Kepler Universitätsklinikum in Linz.
