Legislation and case law require <strong>patients to be given clear, individual and documented information<\/strong> before a medical procedure can be carried out. This is often difficult to implement in a busy clinic or practice.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Digital tools &#8211; in particular <strong>individualized educational videos<\/strong> &#8211; offer a concrete solution here. They enable standardized, quality-assured and at the same time <strong>patient-specific adaptable information transfer<\/strong>, which is not only <strong>legally more resilient<\/strong>, but also <strong>saves resources<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p>This article explains why digital Patient Education not only saves healthcare professionals time, but also creates a viable basis for<em>Informed Consent<\/em> in accordance with the Austrian Civil Code (ABGB) and the German Civil Code (BGB).<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Legal basis: The obligation to provide individual information<\/h2>\n\n<p>In accordance with <strong>\u00a7 630e BGB (DE)<\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ris.bka.gv.at\/Dokumente\/Bundesnormen\/NOR40177916\/NOR40177916.html\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.ris.bka.gv.at\/Dokumente\/Bundesnormen\/NOR40177916\/NOR40177916.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00a7 252 ABGB (AT)<\/a><\/strong> no medical intervention may take place without prior, individually understood consent. The informed consent must: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>be <strong>personalized<\/strong> (no standard texts without relevance)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>be <strong>comprehensible<\/strong> (adapted to language, education, health literacy)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>in good time and verbally<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>be <strong>fully documented<\/strong> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Standard forms and pre-formulated texts <strong>alone cannot<\/strong> meet these requirements, as numerous court decisions have shown. A typical mistake is the blanket provision of an information form without an in-depth discussion or individual risk assessment. <\/p>\n\n<p>This is where digital solutions come in &#8211; they <strong>standardize the process<\/strong> but <strong>individualize the content<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Individualized educational videos: Comprehensibility meets patient-centeredness<\/h2>\n\n<p>Modern educational tools such as <strong>medudoc<\/strong> make it possible to create patient-specific videos that are based on:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the <strong>specific diagnosis<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the <strong>specific intervention<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>individual <strong>risk factors<\/strong> (e.g. previous illnesses),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the selected <strong>language<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and desired <strong>information density<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>are coordinated.<\/p>\n\n<p>The result: a patient-specific explanatory video that is made available to the patient before the personal consultation &#8211; via link, tablet or portal if desired.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Advantages for legal certainty:<\/h3>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Individual <a href=\"https:\/\/medudoc.com\/en\/legal-certainty\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1355\">duty to inform<\/a> fulfilled<\/strong>: The content of the video is tailored to the patient&#8217;s case, documented and archived.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Comprehensibility guaranteed<\/strong>: The visual and linguistically simplified presentation significantly reduces misunderstandings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Increased evidence<\/strong>: The time of retrieval, viewing time and consent are recorded digitally &#8211; a powerful building block in the event of liability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Legal recognition:<\/h3>\n\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/DE\/TXT\/?uri=CELEX%3A32014R0910\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/DE\/TXT\/?uri=CELEX%3A32014R0910\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EU<\/a> eIDAS Regulation and national requirements (e.g. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dsb.gv.at\/recht-entscheidung\/gesetze.html\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.dsb.gv.at\/recht-entscheidung\/gesetze.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GDPR<\/a>, \u00c4rzteG \u00a7 51), <strong>digital documentation and signatures<\/strong> are fully legally valid under certain conditions. A <strong>qualified electronic signature<\/strong> can replace handwritten signatures with legal certainty &#8211; for example in the case of remote declarations in the context of telemedicine. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Time savings for doctors &#8211; focus on the essentials<\/h2>\n\n<p>In conventional information sessions, doctors often spend 15-25 minutes explaining standard content &#8211; regardless of how familiar or interested the patient is.<\/p>\n\n<p>With video-based information, <strong>the information process shifts to the preparation phase<\/strong>. Patients receive the material at an early stage, can watch it several times, discuss it with relatives if necessary and prepare specific questions. <\/p>\n\n<p>In our <a href=\"https:\/\/medudoc.com\/en\/references-and-studies\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1466\">studies<\/a>, the following parameters were determined from the video-based Patient Education:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Reduction of up to 70 % in<\/strong> the <strong>time spent on<\/strong> the conversation itself<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Better patient participation<\/strong>, as more understanding<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fewer queries on standard topics<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Greater satisfaction and trust<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>This allows the medical discussion to focus on <strong>clinically decisive aspects<\/strong>: individual risks, surgical alternatives, decision-making. This leaves <strong>more time and care<\/strong> for complex cases &#8211; without neglecting routine clarification. <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube verification and archiving.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>This structure ensures <strong>standardized legal certainty<\/strong>, especially in facilities with high fluctuation or changing specialists &#8211; regardless of who provides information in individual cases.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion: Digital education is more than an efficiency tool &#8211; it is a quality standard<\/h2>\n\n<p>The combination of <strong>an individual approach, standardized quality and legally compliant documentation<\/strong> makes digital Patient Education a real <strong>game changer<\/strong> in everyday medical practice.<\/p>\n\n<p>For medical professionals in particular, it is the answer to the growing demands of<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Legal conformity<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Patient loyalty<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Liability minimization<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Efficiency in the
