Preoperative workflow · Step 6

The discussion stays. Just better prepared.

The consent discussion takes place on site or by telemedicine – by phone or video call in the browser. Physicians know the medical history and patient questions in advance; a transcript and summary suggest the documentation.

Video call in the browser between a physician and a patient with a live transcript and a suggestion for the documentation in the consent sheet, which the physician confirms.

On site or telemedical

The discussion in the format that is medically appropriate

The physician decides, depending on the procedure and risk profile, whether a discussion on site is necessary or a telemedical one is sufficient. medudoc supports both.

  • On site

    During consultation

In person at the clinic – with medical history, patient questions and consent sheet on screen and the signature on a signature pad.

  • Phone

    By phone

A phone call via medudoc is sufficient if the procedure and risk profile allow it.

  • Video

    Video call in the browser

No installation needed on smartphone, tablet or computer. Patients receive the appointment invitation digitally.

  • Optional

    Third-party tools

Your hospital can also hold the discussion with a video service it already uses.

A patient sits on the sofa and talks to a doctor via tablet.

Time for the questions that really matter

Patients who have watched the video and read the sheet come to the discussion with their own questions. Physicians do not have to repeat standard information and have time for what concerns this person.

Prepared

The discussion starts informed, not from scratch

Before the discussion, physicians see what patients already know and what they have questions about.

  • Medical history
  • Patient questions
  • Consent sheet
  • Questions from the video

Sections that patients flagged in the video, and their questions, are ready for the discussion.

  • Add and update data

Medical history and patient data can be updated during the discussion.

  • Annotation with text templates

Predefined text templates speed up the annotation of the consent sheet.

  • University Hospital Würzburg study

    81% shorter physician discussion time

With video-assisted preparation, the median physician discussion time before cholecystectomy fell from 8.1 to 1.5 minutes, and before colon resection from 11.9 to 3.3 minutes (Leicht et al., World J Surg 2026; 50(10): 2866).

Transcript and summary

From discussion to documentation – confirmed by the physician

If the discussion takes place via medudoc, the platform transcribes it and summarises it automatically. The summary appears as a suggestion in the consent sheet. AI processing takes place exclusively in the EU.

  1. 1. Hold the discussion

By phone or video call via medudoc.

  2. 2. Create the transcript

medudoc records the conversation in writing.

  3. 3. Suggest a summary

The key points appear as a suggestion for the documentation in the consent sheet.

  4. 4. Physician confirms

The physician reviews the suggestion, changes it if necessary and confirms it.

Only what the physician confirms is documented.
