Preparing cardiac procedures – with medication in view
Before an ablation, a pacemaker implantation or bypass surgery, patients often take anticoagulant medication. With medudoc, medication is captured by photo, and physicians see the preoperative recommendations of the specialist societies alongside it. The physician decides on any pauses.
Medication
Anticoagulants captured, pauses set by the physician
Many patients in cardiology and cardiac surgery take anticoagulants or antiplatelet agents. medudoc brings this information into the case in a structured form. The platform collects, organises and visualises – the physician decides on any pauses.
Medication by photo
Patients photograph the package or their medication plan. An integrated drug database recognises the product, so nobody has to type up lists.
Medication information with cited source
In the HCP Dashboard, physicians see the active ingredient, interactions and preoperative recommendations of the specialist societies for each medication – each with a cited source.
Decision documented in the case
Physicians set discontinuations, pauses and dose changes directly in the case. medudoc transfers them, together with the instructions to the ward, into the premedication record.
Pauses in the surgery preparation plan
After approval, patients receive their surgery preparation plan with appointment, medication pauses and fasting rules, plus reminders by email or text message.
Interventions and operations
From cardiac catheterisation to bypass surgery in one workflow
Cardiology and cardiac surgery range from short catheter interventions and rhythm devices to major operations. medudoc maps all of them in the same workflow; your hospital defines the documents and signature level for each procedure.
Cardiac catheterisation, TAVI and closure devices
Many interventions can be planned. Patients enter their medical history and medication at home before they come to the cardiac catheterisation laboratory.
- Left heart catheterisation, coronary angioplasty and stenting
- Aortic valve replacement (TAVI)
- Left atrial appendage and ASD/PFO closure
Ablation, cardioversion and rhythm devices
The consent sheet for pacemaker implantation adapts to the pacemaker type, the stay and perioperative anticoagulation, among other things. A patient education video complements it.
- Catheter ablation for cardiac arrhythmias
- Electrical cardioversion
- Pacemakers and S-ICDs, including replacement and revision
Bypass and valve surgery
Before major operations, cardiac surgery and anaesthesia both inform the patient. medudoc combines both consent processes in one questionnaire and one bilingual consent sheet.
- Coronary artery bypass grafting, including robot-assisted
- Mitral and tricuspid valve
- Medication and approval in the premedication record
On site or telemedical
Telemedical or in the clinic – prepared on both paths
Whether a telemedical consent discussion is sufficient is decided by the physician, depending on the procedure and risk profile. Both paths start with the same preparation at home.
Consent discussion by phone or video
For plannable examinations and procedures, when the physician considers a telemedical consent discussion sufficient.
- 1
Enter medical history and medication at home
- 2
Review and approve the case in the HCP Dashboard
- 3
Read the consent sheet at home
Consent discussion by phone or video
- 5
Sign electronically, in the browser
No additional clinic appointment.
- 1
In the clinic, well prepared
For major operations, pre-existing conditions or when an examination is needed.
- 1
Enter medical history and medication at home
- 2
Notable responses flagged in the HCP Dashboard
- 3
Read the consent sheet at home in advance
Discussion and examination in the clinic
- 5
Sign electronically, on a tablet or signature pad
The discussion starts informed instead of from scratch.
- 1
One document with a complete record
The result is the consent sheet as a PDF/A with the consent trail and medical history attached – archived in an audit-proof manner and transferred to the hospital information system (HIS).
Benefits

For anaesthesia
- The same information, no second questionnaire
- Scores calculated, notable responses flagged
- Anaesthesia technique in the same consent sheet
- Handover to the HIS via FHIR
For patients
- Photograph medication instead of copying lists
- Medication pauses in the surgery preparation plan, with reminders
- Adjustable font size and contrast in the patient portal
- Patient education content in 23 languages
Consent sheets
Patient education content for cardiology and cardiac surgery
medudoc’s medical editorial team creates consent sheets for cardiological and cardiac surgical procedures and reviews them at least once a year. For pacemaker implantation and transoesophageal echocardiography, patient education videos are also available.
Cardiac catheterisation and interventions
Diagnostics and therapy via catheter.
Heart rhythm
Ablation, cardioversion and rhythm devices.
Cardiac surgery
Coronary and valve surgery.
